Every Summer…

There are times, when nearing July…

a couple yearns for rolling land and sand and grass…

and fireflies.

The song of the Midwest yowls and the people pull and it somehow all begs them…

Just bring the babies to run and laugh and chase.

But then they remember…

The mountains so patient.

The beaches so long.

The trees so tall and the salmon so many…the people so fierce.

Why would we ever think to leave?

And the annual tears fall…

Hi Cassandra! This is Jennifer from Once Upon a Writer. I sat down to visit your blog this afternoon and I have so enjoyed reading your posts. This one in particular struck a cord with me. My husband and I live in the midwest now and we love it but there are times that our hearts pine for the places and faces we know in the south where we lived when we were first married. I will definitely be back for more of your stories and writing. Keep in touch and if you do decided to join us Breathe let me know!
